Valor Academy Middle School, located in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, has been successfully serving its community for over six years. As of 2015, it can proudly proclaim that it is:
➢ Named a “California Distinguished School” by the California Department of Education
➢ Ranked 10 out of 10 when compared to similar schools in California
➢ One of the top 5 middle schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District based on the Academic Performance Index (API)
In August of this year, Valor Academy Middle School will be moving to a brand new, state of the art facility designed specifically for the school’s educational program. The new home will be located 1 1/2 miles away from our current campus, at the cross section of Nordhoff St. and Burnett St. (15136 Nordhoff). The beautiful 2-acre property and 2-story complex will include:
➢ 16 general purpose classrooms
➢ 4 special use rooms (including science lab, media center, resource room, and elective room)
➢ A large multipurpose room (equipped with theatre use)
➢ A year round turf field
➢ Natural greenscape (trees and shrubbery) with outside seating areas and play areas
➢ 40 designated parking spaces
➢ An on-campus pick-up/drop-off lane
Bright Star is also currently in the process of gaining approval from LAUSD for a charter petition to open Valor Academy Elementary School, a new TK-4th program we hope to start this summer. In the initial year, the school would serve one class of transitional kindergarten and four kindergarten classes. If approved, the elementary school will move into the current middle school campus on Woodman Avenue and will grow over five years to house a full school program with grades TK-4th. In just a few years time, Valor Elementary, Valor Middle, and Valor High will be providing a Kindergarten to College pathway for students and families living in our communities!
